Michael Jay "Mike" Diveney, 84, of Keokuk, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Mike was born on August 1, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Milton and Frances (Mortenson) Diveney. On July 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Lonna Louise Pankratz in Aledo, Illinois. She survives.

Mike was employed by Thatcher Glass and Hon Co. in Muscatine, Iowa, where he started the mailroom and printing divisions. He moved to Keokuk in 1969 and became a wholesaler for the Des Moines Register as well as other papers for thirty-eight years. He also had a part-time job selling car products, winning trips around the world for his incredible sales numbers. Mike enjoyed his work, but his favorite pastime was golfing. He loved the game. Mike never rested and always had something new in the works. He built two beautiful homes for his family and planted enormous gardens, including one with four thousand heads of cabbage. Always thinking of his community, Mike was a member of the Keokuk Lions Club, becoming president. During that time, he went to Hawaii where he went fishing and caught the biggest tuna of the day, which was televised on the news that evening. He was also a member of the Jackson Township Fire Department, becoming the chief. He also volunteered at the Salvation Army for many years, serving on the board. He loved helping out, especially when they had the store. One Christmas he packed over eight hundred boxes of food. Most of all, Mike loved the Lord. He spent many years teaching the Friday night men's Bible study and the adult Sunday school class. He had a passion for teaching the word of God. He loved telling people about Jesus Christ and served as an elder at Cornerstone Church.

Mike is survived by his wife Lonna Diveney of Keokuk; his son Darin (Amanda) Diveney of Hamilton, Illinois; his daughter Kimberly "Kim" (Dennis) Kirchner of Keokuk; four siblings: Daniel (Diane) Diveney, Patrick (Fina) Diveney, Sandra (Scott) Brown and Susan Diltz; nine grandchildren: Darion (Jessica) Weber, Mikelle (Drew) Lewis, Alexsis (Tremanye) Williams, Devin (Katelyn) Diveney, Alayna (Pablo) Hernandez, Dylan (Bridget) Diveney, Mason Diveney, Micah Diveney and Merrick Diveney; his step-grandchild Marlee Stephenson; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Milton Diveney, Jr., and James Diveney; and his sister Joan Peck.

Visitation will be held from 11 to 3 pm, with family meeting friends from 1 to 3 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Friday, April 17, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk.
