Pat Weatherington Obituary Pat Weatherington, 92, of Burnside, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 1, 2024, at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA, surrounded by her family. Patty Jo was born November 19, 1931, in Ft Madison, IA, the youngest daughter of Howard and Cheryl (Kress) Barker. She attended Dallas City High School graduating in 1948 and later graduated with honors from Western Illinois University in 1952 with degrees in Music and Literature. She was united in marriage to Donald "Duck" Weatherington (deceased) in Dallas City, on June 24, 1956. Pat and Duck raised their three sons on the family farm near Burnside, where she lived for over 67 years continuing the Weatherington legacy which began in 1904. Pat taught Music and English at Abingdon, La Harpe, and Carthage High Schools, for over 30 years, until her retirement in 1985. In addition to teaching, Pat was a dedicated farm wife, a loving mother and homemaker. She was the primary caregiver to her son Derek for over a decade, to whom she donated a kidney for transplant in 1969. Pat enjoyed literature, music, dancing, and collecting antiques. Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband of 55 years, her family, and her many friends. Pat is survived by her two sons and their wives, Dyke and Julie of Hillsborough, NC, and Duff and Betsy of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, Hannah, Abigail, Brett, and Bekah, ten great grandchildren, nieces Randy Nixon and Suzanne Boussaard, and nephews Mitch Clifton, Randy Comstock and Ronnie Comstock. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duck, sisters Betty Lou, Thelma, and Eula, and son Derek. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, with Mark Pettit conducting. Burial immediately following at Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage.
