Percy 'Marty' Mortimer Obituary Percy "Marty" Martin Alfred Leroy Mortimer, 74, of Montrose, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Percy was born on May 12, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Louis W. and Juanita (Mercer) Mortimer. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1971, serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged. Percy was employed with the City of Keokuk as a city worker for 27 years, retiring in 1999. He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. His favorite places were the riverside and bonfires. Percy is survived by two sons: Steve (Missie) Mortimer of Alexandria, Missouri, and Johnothan (Jessie) Mortimer of Keokuk; his sister Mona Hager of Florida; seven grandchildren: Alisha May, Alex May, Ashley May, Seith Boudreau, Johnathan Mortimer, Rally Mortimer and Rowdy Mortimer; and sixteen great-grandchildren: Drayton, Lincoln, Izadora, Rowdy Jo, Maryn, Emitt, Khayos, Rollie, Jr., Joann, Jacob, Ryan, Ethan, Oliver, Kylie, Emma and Colt; long-time companion Mary Koch; and sister-in-law Josie McNabb. Percy is preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Wilber "Buddy" Mortimer, his sister Sandra Ellis, and his grandparents. Percys life will be celebrated with a visitation from 12 pm (Noon) to 2 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. Visitation will end with military honors rendered at the funeral home by the American Legion Post #41 and the United States Navy. Memorials may be directed to the American Legion Post #41.
