Sherry Chaknine Obituary Sherry E. Chaknine, 70, of Keokuk, formerly of Montrose, passed away on May 13, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Sherry was born on August 14, 1944, to Preston A. and Helen M. Russell McCartney in Burlington, Iowa. On July 7, 1963, she was united in marriage to William E. Chaknine in Biggsville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2000. Sherry was a resident of Montrose for most of her life, and was employed at Sheller-Globe for 33 years in Keokuk. Some of her favorite hobbies included playing bingo, sewing, quilting, camping and horseback riding. Sherry is survived by her son William (Monica) Chaknine of Montrose, her daughter Teresa (Jimmie) Boecker of Montrose, two brothers, six sisters, two sisters-in-law: Thelma and Elma Chaknine, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her special friend Rick Miller, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, two children: Michael and Steven Chaknine; a sister, a brother, and a sister-in-law, Barb Small. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Keokuk, Iowa, with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
