Obituary

Terry Fayne Tinsley, 78, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

Terry was born on May 22, 1947, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of Dorsey F. and Bernice (Behrman) Tinsley. On July 5, 1967, he was united in marriage to Teresa Schmitz at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield, Illinois. She survives.

Terry was of the Catholic faith and a member of the American Legion Post #41 and the American Legion Riders in Keokuk. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy for six years during the Vietnam era, serving on the USS Holland, a nuclear submarine tender. He went on to complete another eleven years in the National Guard. Terry held many jobs throughout his career, his final being a metal polisher for antiques. His free time was spent riding his beloved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and showing off his Model A delivery vehicle and 1946 Hudson truck hotrod at local car shows.

Terry is survived by his wife Teresa Tinsley of Nauvoo; his son Tim (Penny) Tinsley of Warsaw; three grandchildren: Jeffrey Tinsley of Quincy, Illinois, Mariah (Dylan) Kalebaugh of Fowler, Illinois, and Cheyenne (Marcy) Tinsley of Hamilton; two great-grandchildren: Hope and Bearon of Fowler; his sister Randie Glassford of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, his son Terry James Tinsley and his sister Sherrie Kimble.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm (Noon) on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton, with burial to follow at Nauvoo City Cemetery in Nauvoo, Illinois. Military honors at the graveside will be provided by the American Legion Post #41 and the United States Navy. Visitation will be held at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton on Saturday, May 9, from 10 am to noon directly before the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or P.A.W.S Animal Shelter.
