Obituary

Valeata Amanda Monroe, 96, of Hamilton, IL, passed on to heaven at 1:45PM Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Heritage House in Carthage, IL

She was born April 30, 1930, in Tioga, IL the daughter of Franklin and Edith Kammer Rampley.

She married Henry Monroe, Sept 6, 1947, at the Christian Church in Keokuk.

She is survived by seven children, Ron (Shelia) Monroe and Gary Monroe, both of Hamilton, Debbie (Jim) Amann of Hamilton, Dona Stansbery of Sugar Hill, GA, Doug Monroe of Buford, GA, Kendall Monroe of Lilburn, GA and Brent Monroe of Hamilton, IL;

13 Grandchildren, Angie (Dan) Gracey, Mike Kayvan, Tarah Amann, Matt Amann, Cancy Monroe-Lee, Darren Monroe, Dustin (Michelle) Monroe, Mandy (John) Humphry, Corrine Childress, David Monroe, Heather Barnes, Kara Wellington and Keith Holman Monroe; several great grandchildren; three siblings, survived by Judy Lance of Peoria, and several nieces and nephews

Valeata was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry Monroe, in 2014 and a daughter,

Diana Monroe, in 1974

Valeata attended West Point High School in Illinois.

Henry and Valeata built Monarosa Mobilehome Park, in Hamilton, 1967, and remained owner / operator until 2022. In 1985 Charter Builders contracted Monroe specialty for a 1st in story job in Austin, TX. When the job was complete, they asked Valeata & Henry to relocate to Key West, FL where they worked and lived it up for several years

Valeata was of Protestant Faith

Valeata loved being married to Henry. They had a special marriage of 67 years. Valeata loved hard work and building businesses alongside Henry. More than anything she loved to help anyone that needed a hand up. Offering love, friendship, work, a place to stay, gave rides anywhere & a meal. Valeata was always there for her kids and family. We will always remember her love and hard work.
