Virginia Gilbert Obituary Virginia Kathleen "Kathy" 'Gilbert, 71, of Keokuk, gained her wings Tuesday morning, March 31, 2020 at Unity Point Health in Keokuk. Kathy was born September 8, 1948 in Keokuk, to Lloyd Eugene and Lottie "Marie" (Thompson) Stark. She was united in marriage to James Burnett Gilbert, Jr. on May 26, 1978 in Keokuk. He survives. Kathy has been a homemaker in the Keokuk area her entire life. She is a member of Bethany Church in Keokuk. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, doing word searches, playing solitaire, and extremely enjoyed growing flowers. Kathy never knew a stranger and judging by the amount of friends that she has, anyone could see that this is true. Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, James, a daughter; Dollie Jean (Matthew) Stice of Keokuk, four grandchildren; Terry Allen Briggs III, Brandi Rae Briggs, Jeremy Lee Turner, and Justin James Turner, four great grandchildren, two brothers; Roy Stark and Ron (Marcy) Stark, two sisters; Anna (Harry) Russell, and Marilyn Stark, her mother-in-law; Katherine Jarvis, two brothers-in-law, Delbert (Kelley) Gilbert and William (Phyllis) Gilbert and their daughter; Crystal Gilbert, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Carol Sue Holmes and her father-in-law; Howard Jarvis. Due to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19, there will be no services at this time. However, the family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Kathy will be laid to rest in Keokuk National Cemetery.
