Alvera "Vera" Mary Carroll

Alvera "Vera" Mary Carroll, 88, of Carthage, passed away at 2:02 AM, Monday, May 30, 2022, at her home.

Vera was born July 26, 1933, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Wiewel) Neisen on the family farm near Fowler.  She graduated from Liberty High School and then went on to graduate from Gem City College in Quincy.  On November 25, 1954, she was united in marriage to Darel Carroll at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fowler.  Vera was a very active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage.  She had also been a 4-H Leader for many years and a member of the Swing Easy Dance Club.  She deeply loved her family and spending time with them.

Vera is survived by her husband, Darel, of Carthage; children, Dan (Deanne) Carroll of Carthage, Colleen (John) McAndrew of Timnath, Colorado and David (Tami) Carroll of Carthage; grandchildren, John (Kelly) Carroll, Catherine Henoch, Sarah Turner, Mary (Alan) Moore, Michael Carroll, Anna Carroll, John McAndrew, Mary (Jon) Oliver, Joseph (Tessa) McAndrew, Drew (Erica) Carroll, Mackenzie (Ben) McLean, Aaron (Jessica) Carroll and Brayden Carroll; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy (Peggy) Neisen and Kenny Neisen, both of Fowler; and a sister, Pat Becker of Kansas City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Orville, Earl, Norbert, Don and Arthur, in infancy; and two sisters, Alberta Guthrie and Rosemary Metzgar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 3, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.  A Rosary will be held following the visitation Thursday evening at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage or Blessing Hospice.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of the arrangements.
