Arlene Lantz Obituary

Anna Arlene Covert Lantz, 98, of Carthage, passed away early Monday morning, March 15, 2021, at 4:10 AM in Quincy.

Arlene was born July 14, 1922, in Hancock County, Illinois the daughter of Albert and Edna (Wollbrink) Beeler. On August 22, 1922, she was baptized and on March 10, 1937, she was confirmed at the Bethany Evangelical Church in Tioga, Illinois. On February 21, 1943, she was united in marriage to Elbert Covert. He preceded her in death in 1973. On December 26, 1984 she was united in marriage to Lester Lantz and he preceded her in death in 2010. Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage since 1951 and had served as a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher over the years. She was also a member of the Kitchen committee and sewing group. She was an excellent seamstress and had made all her grandchildren quilts and blankets. Arlene enjoyed living and helping on the farm and especially loved her family coming to visit.

Arlene is survived by her children, Anita Myers of Galesburg, Virgene Banks of Quincy and Darrell (Julie) Covert of Plymouth; step-children, Ilene Kreider of Palmyra, Missouri and Margaret (Jerry) Winters of Colchester; sister-in-law, June Beeler of Sutter; grandchildren, Eric (Alison) Myers, Alison (Steve) Darst, Jason (Kim) Banks, Jamie Banks, April Thomas, Gabriel (Patty) Covert and Heather (Will) Uppinghouse; step-grandchildren, Steve Kreider, Pam (Scott) Artman, Megan (Cody) Brown and Penny (James) Wilson; fourteen great grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Elbert Covert and Lester Lantz; a sister, Elma Seals; three brothers, Leo, John and Glen Beeler; two sons-in-law, Larry Myers and Junior Banks; and a step-son-in-law, David Kreider.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday afternoon, March 19, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Harmony Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until time of services at 1:00 at the church. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage or Blessing Hospice. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
