Barbara "Jody" Sparrow

Barbara “Jody” Sparrow, 64, of West Point, passed away at 4:22 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Barbara was born in Carthage, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Olive “June” (Walton) Riley on July 21, 1958. On June 19, 1989, she was united in marriage to Eldon Sparrow in Hannibal, Missouri. Barbara was a housewife/homemaker, a job she took great pride in. She also was an avid artist with many paintings to her credit. She loved all kinds of arts and crafts, was a huge fan of barbequing and loved fish fry’s. Maybe the most enjoyable thing for Barbara were the family get togethers.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Eldon, seven children, Michael (Shelly) Stambaugh of West Point, Howard Stambaugh III of Carthage, Levi Casey of West Point, Jason Sparrow of Carthage, Brandy Sparrow of Carthage, Trisha (Dave) Johnson of Bushnell, and Brianna Sparrow of Warsaw; two sisters, Lyn Riley of Bowen and Amy (Bob) Anderson of Camp Point; sixteen grandchildren and four Great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harry Riley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  A luncheon will follow at the VFW Post 5117 located at 29 N Madison St, Carthage, IL 62321 following the funeral hosted by Cynthia Otten, Brandy Sparrow, Shelley Stambaugh, and other friends of the family. Memorials may be directed to Printy Funeral Home for funeral expenses.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
