Beverly "Bev" Dowdall Obituary

Beverly “Bev” Mardell Dowdall, 85, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa.

Beverly was born in Hamilton, Illinois, on August 4, 1933, the daughter of William “Toots” and Doris (Fisher) Turner. On April 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to Loren “Pete” Dowdall in Hamilton, Illinois. He survives.

A lifelong resident of Hancock County, Beverly was an active member of Elvaston Community Church for many years, where she served faithfully as a deacon. She worked alongside her husband on the farm for most of her life. When she wasn’t working, Beverly stayed busy caring for others and driving people anywhere they needed to go. Her caring and loving spirit was always appreciated by her family and friends. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed crafting, painting, caring for her home and walking with the Basco Walkers.

Beverly is survived by her husband Loren “Pete" Dowdall of Carthage, Illinois; her son Rusty (Barbie) Dowdall of Hamilton, Illinois; her daughter Shellie (Robb Wood) Ramsey of Bowen, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Kip (Corey Poore) Ramsey of Edwardsville, Illinois; Kirk (Lisa) Ramsey of Staunton, Virginia; Cole (Pat Austria) Ramsey of Washington, DC; Chase Ramsey of Chicago, Illinois; Hayley (Justin) Hamelton of Burlington, Iowa; Greg (Danielle) Dowdall of Hamilton; and Jeff (Jessica) Dowdall of Elvaston, Illinois; and five great-grandchildren: Jack Hamelton, Madelyn Hamelton, Ryan Dowdall, Emily Dowdall and Finley Ramsey. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Connie Lunt Gooding.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Elvaston Community Church in Elvaston, Illinois, with burial to follow in the Elvaston Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3 to 8 PM, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 PM at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton, Illinois.
