She was Baptized on February 18, 1951, and Confirmed in her Baptism on May 8, 1966, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Carolyn met the love of her life, Gary Lynn Icenogle, while they were both working at Western Illinois Electric Co-op (WIEC). They were united in marriage on May 12, 1973, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. In her childhood, she attended Union Douglas School and graduated from Carthage High School in 1969, then went on to obtain a Certificate of Accounting from Carl Sandburg College. Carolyn loved God and her family above all else and spent every moment possible with her loved ones. She provided unwavering support to her children and grandchildren and attended every one of their events and activities. Carolyn was devoted to her career at Robert Morris University as an Institutional Payroll Accountant for over 32 years, from which she retired in 2020.

Carolyn loved to cross-stitch and crochet, leaving behind many keepsakes. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Carthage, where she served in many roles such as a secretary and an altar guild. She also cherished singing in the church choir. She was a teacher of Sunday School, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and Confirmation. Carolyn was a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Camp Fire Girls Leader, and she enjoyed many years of bowling in a league for Bilderback’s.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Gary of Carthage; her son, Steven (Megan) Icenogle of Aledo, Illinois; her daughter, Jennifer (Christopher) Meeks of Carthage; five grandchildren, Jessie, Dalton, and Zachary Icenogle, and Samuel and Benjamin Meeks; two sisters, Carla (Kenneth) Crossland and Nancy Huls; a brother, Lester (Yvonne) Huls; as well as many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
