Clyde Hufendick Obituary

Old Clyde Harlin Hufendick, 83, of Sutter, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Silex Community Health Facility.

Clyde was born on December 22, 1939, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Arthur W. and Alma E (Miller) Hufendick. He married Marilyn K. Seals on March 26, 1961, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga, Illinois. She survives.

Clyde began life as a young farmer, learning the trade from his parents. He enjoyed the farming life, but moved to Quincy and became a carpenter. He learned this trade at K & B Builders. Clyde worked his way up the ladder and became one of the bosses. He worked at K & B for many years. Clyde started his family in Quincy with his wife Marilyn and their four children. In 1976 he returned to his passion of farming in Sutter, Illinois. He always loved planting seeds and watching them grow. He also enjoyed raising his livestock and was always improving the quality of his herd. Clyde’s greatest joy in life was his family, including eight grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Every time they were around, you would just see him light up with that big smile. He was a very hard worker and was well known for that. When Clyde wasn’t working, he loved to duck hunt, collect coins and antique wood planes. He was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ and had a strong belief in eternal life through his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Marilyn, a daughter, Julie (Jackie) Wilson of Hamilton, three sons; Kevin (Jill) Hufendick of Quincy, Kent (Jennifer) Hufendick of Battleground, IN, and Mark (Sarah) Hufendick of Lima, eight grandchildren; Jessica (Jacob) Redman, Jackie (Christie) Wilson, Joni (Robert) Smith, Courtney (Brian) Buford, Abbey (Devan) DePauw, Kelley Hufendick, George Hufendick and Andrew (Bailey Fuller) Smith; he is also survived by his twin brother, Carrol (Mary) Hufendick and his sister-in-law, Linda Pierceall and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Harold and Axie Seals; a brother, Lawrence Hufendick; two brother-in-laws, Richard Seals and Jim Pierceall; and a sister-in-law, Joan Seals.
