Connie Wollbrink Obituary

Connie Marie Wollbrink, 62, of Carthage Illinois went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed on Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2020 at 1:35 P.M. at her home in Carthage surrounding by her family. Connie was born August 25, 1957, in Carthage, Illinois, the daughter of Laverne and Gloria (Bishop) Brewster. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Sciota, Illinois, class of 1975. She attended Gem City Beauty School after high school. On June 1, 1985, she was united in marriage to Galen Wollbrink at the United Church of Christ in Sutter, Illinois. Connie was formerly a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage and has been an active member of Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy for many years. She had worked at Methode Electronics in Carthage for over 30 years. She was a Cub Scout leader as her sons were growing up. Her gentle spirit and hospitality made their home a favorite place for their friends over the years. She most recently was the owner and operator of Wollbrink Alley in Carthage and met many friends through her store where she did alterations and sewing. Connie loved spending time with her family and especially her “guys.” Her grandchild had become her whole world and hearing the sounds of their feet running and their joyful voices when they came to stay at “Nana’s house” was music to her ears. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Connie is survived by her husband, Galen, of Carthage, Illinois; two sons, Arron (Amanda) Wollbrink of Quincy, and Ryan Wollbrink of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Nash and Theo Wollbrink of Quincy; her mother, Gloria Brewster, of Carthage; two sisters, Nancy (Steve) Goetz of Carthage, and Kathy Nudds of Nashville, Tennessee; three brothers, Rusty Brewster of The Villages, Florida, Rob Brewster of Plainfield, Indianapolis and Ronnie Brewster of Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Laverne Brewster.
