Delbert Wayne Lawson of Ft. Collins, Colorado, formerly of Carthage, Illinois passed away at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins on August 2, 2015.
Delbert was born on September 26, 1934 in Scott County Missouri to Clifford and Geraldine (Barr) Lawson. The family moved to Carthage when he was 8 years old.
During his lifetime Delbert was a farmer, Manager of Water and Sewer for the city of Carthage and owner of Lawson Plumbing and Heating. Delbert was also a member of the Carthage Clipper Volunteer Fire Department, serving as assistant chief and then chief. He traveled to the Mediterranean region and worked in Saudi Arabia and Cypress. On returning to the United States he moved to Fort Collins and worked as a plumber and as a plumbing supply salesman.
Delbert married Marlys J. Metternich on August 15, 1954.
Delbert is survived by his three children: Lea (Greg) Griffiths of Port Byron, Illinois, Vince (Michele) Lawson of Concord, California and Spencer (Nicole) Corbin Lawson of Portland, Oregon. His grandchildren: Drew Griffiths of Le Claire, Iowa, Callie Griffiths of Bettendorf, Iowa, Connor Lawson, Kyle and Kaitlin Smith of Concord, California. He is also survived by a sister Jane (Mert) Wetterich of Colchester, Illinois, and brothers Dean Lawson of DeWitt, Iowa and Keith Lawson of Carthage.
A graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.
