Dorthy A. Limkeman, 97, formerly of Warsaw, Illinois, died Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Dorthy was born on November 24, 1924, to Daniel and Emma Schrader on a farm near Sutter, Illinois.
She married Roger F. Limkeman on Dec. 17, 1948, at Sutter. She is survived by one son Darrell Limkeman (Sharon Murphy), a daughter-in-law Kristi Limkeman of Long Beach, CA; granddaughter Wendy (Trent) Barker of Floris, Iowa; grandson Eric Limkeman of Hitchcock, Texas; granddaughter Rachel Limkeman of Long Beach, CA and great granddaughters Madeline and Lydia Barker of Floris, Iowa. Dorthy is also survived by a brother Emmett (Linda) Schrader of Warsaw, Illinois; one sister-in-law Audene Schrader of Mendon, Illinois; two brother-in-laws Weldon (Mary Ann) Limkeman of Hamilton, Illinois and Delbert Limkeman of Sutter, Illinois; one sister-in-law Awanda (Kenneth) Heyen of Broadlands, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her husband Roger in 2001, her son Douglas in 2022, a daughter-in-law Sharon Limkeman in 2018, her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, a brother Melvin (Sue) Schrader, a sister Albertha (Robert) Meyersick, two brothers Wilfred (Alice) Schrader and Paul Schrader, a sister-in-law Norma Jean (William) Housewright.
Dorthy attended Gem City Business College in Quincy. Before marriage she worked as a secretary in Quincy, Chicago, and Keokuk.
She was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ and was the oldest and longest member having been baptized, confirmed, and married in the church.
Dorthy was a loving farm wife who enjoyed working alongside her husband on the farm.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8th from 1:30-2:30 at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter, Illinois, with the funeral to follow at 2:30 in the church.
Memorials have been established for the Bethlehem United Church of Christ or donor’s choice.
