Douglas Camp Obituary

Douglas Earl Camp, 61, of Elvaston, passed away Wednesday morning, March 29, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.

Doug was born October 19, 1961, the son of John Paul and Emily Marie (Morgan) Camp in East St. Louis, Illinois.  He graduated from Dupo High School and then went on to become a state certified welder.  He was together with Judith Price for upwards of thirty years and they were married on November 21, 2022.  Doug began working for O’Sage construction and later joined the Iron Workers Union #392 out of East St. Louis, being a certified welder. He worked on many bridges throughout the midwest.  Doug loved classic rock, particularly Queen and Pink Floyd and loved taking care of his red Ford. He was also an AVID Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved supporting the St. Louis Cardinals, and the St. Louis Blues. Doug always wanted to be outdoors, whether it was by working or fixing something up or grilling some of his famous ribs. He loved to enjoy bonfires surrounded by family and was always happy to take the grandkids out on a wagon ride around Elvaston.

Doug is survived by his wife, Judith Camp, of Elvaston; children, Ashley Ann Camp of Dexter, Missouri and Abby Lynn Camp of Iowa City, Iowa; stepdaughters, Amber (Corey) McKay, Erin Estrada and Alex Price; grandchildren, Aubrey Lyn Wicks, Ella, Ava, Ezekiel, Kirby, Elliot, Evangeline, and Jude; siblings, John Paul (Cheryl Camp) Camp II  of Greenville, Illinois, Bobbee (Jackie Reece) Camp of Zephyrhills, Florida, Gary (Ruth) Camp Sr. of Dupo, Illinois, Carol Camp of Lexington, South Carolina, Peggy Camp (William) Riegger of Dupo, Illinois and Bonnie (Bob Plant) Camp of Belleville, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Lyn Colyer
