Obituary

James Walter “Jim” Green, 84, of Warsaw, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Carthage on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Jim was born January 8, 1938, the son of Walter and Mae (Bagels) Green in Carman, Illinois.  He joined the United States Navy in 1958 and served his country for 20 years retiring as an E-6 after serving six tours of duty in Vietnam and in Cuba in 1968.  He later worked for Hubinger Company in Keokuk and as an over the road truck driver.  His favorite job was delivering the Daily Gate City newspaper later in life.  He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and his dogs.  He was united in marriage to Glenna Sapp in Keokuk, Iowa in 1984.

Jim is survived by his wife, Glenna, of Warsaw; a daughter, Daniela Parish of Warsaw; a sister, Alice Green of Hamilton; a special nephew, Jesse Devericks; as well as other nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn; and an brother, Kenneth.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Keokuk National Cemetery with military rites rendered by the Hancock County Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of James Green.  Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
