James Harness Obituary

James “Jim” Mac Harness, 79, of Warsaw, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021, at his home in Warsaw.

Jim was born on March, 19, 1942, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Bill and Lois (Mitchell) Harness. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1960, and was united in marriage to Donna Ruffcorn in 1960. She survives.

Jim was a mechanic and car salesman, and owned and operated Harness Auto Sales and Repair in Warsaw and Keokuk. He worshipped at the Warsaw Assembly of God Church and attended Bluegrass festivals with his wife Donna. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, camping, and mushroom hunting. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, but what he loved most was having a fishing pole in his hand.

Jim is survived by his wife Donna Harness of Warsaw; four children: Rick (Teresa) Harness of Lima, Illinois, Chris (Richard) Lowman of Warsaw, Steve Harness of Warsaw and Scott Harness of Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Jerad (Morgan Reeves) Harness, Cody (Becca) Harness, Cory (Kelsi) Lowman, Kayla (Canyon McCarty) Lowman, Ryan Harness, Emily (Garret) Aten and Dayna Harness; and four great-grandchildren: Jayden Harness, and Abe, Hazel and Riley Lowman.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ron Harness.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
