James Lowman Obituary

James “Jim” David Lowman, age 63, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. He was born on January 12, 1956 to Harley “Swede” and Blanche “Bobbie” (Boeddeker) Lowman.

During his lifetime in Warsaw, Jim held several different jobs. He worked at the Warsaw Battery Factory and Alliance Patterns, managed FS and handled maintenance at the Warsaw schools, but his passion was carpentry. He started carpentry with his father Harley at a young age, and continued working construction throughout his life alongside his other jobs. Carpentry was in his blood. He was a hard-working and meticulous craftsman, and his hallmark traits were quality craftsmanship and high standards. He had a special talent for taking a vision for a space and making it a reality.

Jim was a big kid at heart. He was always cracking jokes, teasing his friends and family, and was just plain ornery. He loved spending his free time riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spoiling his Chihuahuas.

Jim is survived by his girlfriend Vickie Moore of Warsaw, Illinois; three daughters: Danielle (Andrew) Horras of Collinsville, Illinois; Jaime (Mark) Bentzinger of Sutter, Illinois; and Stacie (Mike) Payne of Carthage, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Alexis Horras of Normal, Illinois; Addyson, Dayton and Dominic Horras, all of Collinsville, Illinois; Logan and Simon Bentzinger of Sutter, Illinois; and Eric and Gunner Payne of Carthage, Illinois; seven siblings: Steven (Sherry) Lowman of Hamilton, Illinois; Diane (Louis) LeMaire of Basco, Illinois; Deloris (Greg) Stahl of Marseilles, Illinois; Deborah (Frank) Bavery of Warsaw, Illinois; Mitchell (Paula) Lowman of Warsaw, Illinois; Richard (Christine) Lowman of Warsaw, Illinois; and Jeffrey (Fiance’ Brenda Hutson) Lowman of Nauvoo, Illinois; four aunts: Mary Jane Heagy of La Salle, Illinois; Dorothy Carol McMullen of Nixa, Missouri; Elsie Poulter of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Mary Gene Lowman of Hamilton, Illinois; two uncles: David McMullen of Nixa, Missouri; and Richard Poulter of Fort Madison, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim is also survived by his three “favorite daughters”, his beloved Chihuahuas: Chalupa, Cece and Sissy.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Swede and his mother Bobbie, who passed just five days before him.

A joint visitation for Jim and his mother Bobbie will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.
