James D. Tucker, 89, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at Methodist Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Texas.

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Geneva (Rossignol) Tucker; his sons Donald G. Tucker (Alicia) of San Diego, CA; B. Dennis Tucker of Belton, TX; Trent D. Tucker (Karen) of Mansfield, TX; his daughter Sandra Cole (John) of Brookline, NH; eleven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

James was born and raised in southeast Missouri where he plowed fields and handpicked cotton on the farms of the “boot heel.” He graduated from Bernie High School and joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Conflict.  He met his wife while stationed in Presque Isle, Maine.

After serving with the Air Force, James and Geneva settled in Hamilton, Illinois where they started their family and he learned the printing trade. In 1972, he purchased a printing company in Galesburg, Illinois which became Tucker’s Printing Company. He grew the family business into a widely respected company which he eventually sold and entered retirement in 1990.

In retirement he traveled widely with his wife, piloted private airplanes, and worked on antique cars.  James and Geneva moved to Midlothian, Texas in 2015 where they attended St. Jude Catholic Church.

James was preceded in death by his father, Jesse William Tucker; mother, Mirtie B. Stanfill; brothers, Thomas Tucker, Grover “Bub” Tucker; sister, Venita “Sis” Gregory; and son, Ronald Lee Tucker.
