Janelle Sue Holtsclaw Hopson, 64, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Janelle was born February 23, 1956, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Verne and Alice (Carlile) Holtsclaw. She married Scott Hopson on July 5, 1986 in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives. Janelle was president of Hopson Drilling Company for ten years. She held a food service license for twenty years, being employed by numerous local restaurants as a chef. She was also employed by Ben Franklin as a decorator. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School, class of 1974. Janelle was a lover of all animals, often rescuing strays. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed her time with them. She was a very friendly open person who never forgot anyone’s name. Janelle was a member of the First Christian Church of Hamilton, attending weekly services for eighteen years.
Janelle is survived by her husband, Scott of Hamilton; son, Ryan Holtsclaw of Warsaw; granddaughter, Kristianna Holtsclaw of Orion, Illinois; great grandson, Rowen Chadley Norton of Orion, Illinois; grandson, Anthony Hicks of Blue Springs, Nebraska; one sister, Denise (Merle) Bloyd of Mendon, Illinois; a niece, nephew and a great nephew; numerous cousins and two aunts; and precious life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
