Judith Ann “Judy” Bolton, 84, passed away Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021, in Hamilton at her daughter’s home
Judy was born August 25, 1937, in St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Batty and Esther Ellen (Hamburger) Holtsclaw. She attended Oakwood, Elvaston and Hamilton grade schools. She graduated from Hamilton High School with the class of 1955. She attended Western Illinois Teacher’s College for two years. She worked at Casley’s Maidrite and Hamilton Press. On December 26th, 1957, she was united in marriage to W. LaVern Bolton in Nauvoo, Illinois. She was a member of the O.E.S. since November of 1955. She liked to quilt with the Threshers ladies, and she liked to embroidery and crochet. She and her sister made little shorts for all of their children out of scraps In 1990 she made her daughter Debra’s wedding dress. She helped with the raffle ticket sales at Threshers for many years. She and her husband LaVern farmed in the Nauvoo area for over 45 years and sold dozens of eggs.
She is survived by a son, W. Timothy (Bonnie) Bolton, of Nauvoo; her daughter, Debra Ann (Mark) West of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Brian Bolton, Kate (Jesse) Evans of Nauvoo, Cody (Kristen) West of Fort Madison, Colby (Aubrey) West of Hamilton and Chloe and Colbin West of Hamilton; eight great grandchildren, Kristina, Anthony, and Anna Evans of Nauvoo, Oliver, Orson, and Ora West of Fort Madison, and Theodore and Lincoln West of Hamilton; a special niece, Cindy (Tim) Hempen of Hamilton and a nephew, James Califf of Hamilton; four great nieces and a great nephew; six great great nieces and one great great nephew; and many cousins (so many she couldn’t name them all).
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVerne; a son in infancy, Ralph Harley; her sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Jerry Califf; and two nephews, Rex and Bob Califf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday morning, September 4, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton with family meeting friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to Western Illinois Threshers. Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
