L.D. “Dewey” Hester, 86, of Warsaw, passed away at 12:25 P.M. Thursday afternoon, December 31, 2020 at his home in Warsaw.
Dewey was born December 13, 1934, the son of Glen and LaVerne (Stotlar) Hester in Carthage, Illinois. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1952. On March 20, 1965, he was united in marriage to Shirley Henkle. She preceded him in death in 2001. Dewey had worked at Carbide Industries in Keokuk for many years and had owned Dew’s Antique Bar for seven years.
Dewey is survived by his daughter, Sally (Kenneth) Haylock of Hebron, Illinois; and three grandchildren, Wesley and Wade Hester and Elsbeth Haylock; and special friends, Marjorie Neally and Marinelle Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley in 2001; and a son, Kurt in 2018.
Visitation without family present will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Warsaw Ambulance Service or Blessing Hospice. Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
