Jack was born in Alexandria, Missouri on February 16, 1933.  He was the son of Thomas Martin Alford and Violet May Davis Mortimer.  He married Nancy Ellen Clark in 1952. He had been employed at Dryden’s – Sheller Globe for thirty-five years until his retirement in 1995. Jack took great pride in being able to work, so he took a job at Hy-Vee that lasted over ten years.

Jack enjoyed spending his free time bowling with friends and family, dancing wherever there was music, traveling out west on family vacations, and playing his favorite game, Bingo. Jack was also an active member of the Keokuk community, and was a member of the Elks Lodge #106, Moose Lodge #704, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters; first wife, Nancy and his second wife, Sharon; two children Penny Sue Hale, Sidney (Christine – she survives) Lewis Mortimer and one grandson; Nathaniel Mortimer.

He is survived by a brother Robert Dean Mortimer and a Sister, Peggy Conover of Alexandria, MO.
