Marian Boston Obituary

Marian Kay Boston, 65, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away at 6:14 AM Monday, March 8, 2021, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Marian was born November 9, 1955, the daughter of Raymond and Lydia Jo (Huntley) Boston in Ft. Madison, Iowa.  She graduated from Carthage High School in 1974 and attained her B.A. at Illinois State University in only three years.  She then attended Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville School of Engineering.  On April 8, 2000, she was united in marriage to Gary Matson at the Immanuel Methodist Church in Edwardsville.  Marian enjoyed track in high school and was in the first year of Title IX women’s sports in Illinois.   She took pride in being “adjustable” and able to reinvent herself through the stages of her life.  She used her engineering background as a piping designer.  She enjoyed birdwatching and was a member of the Methodist Church.  Marian was a life-long advocate and encouragement for her family and friends.

Marian is survived by her husband, Gary Matson, of Edwardsville, Illinois; three siblings, Arlynn (Eugene) Hitz of Dallas City, Randy (Sheryl) Boston of Burnside and Ryan (Dawn) Boston of Carthage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Leah Boston.

Private family services will be held at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Pilot Grove Cemetery near Burnside.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UNICEF or donor’s choice.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
