Marie Lawson, 90, of Plymouth, passed away at 4:48 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2018, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Marie was born June 28, 1928, the daughter of Glenn and Maurine (Perrine) Melvin in Henderson County, Illinois. She attended Media High School graduating in 1946. She then attended Western Illinois University where she met Russell Lawson. They were married on December 28, 1947, at the Old Bedford Christian Church near Blandinsville, Illinois. Marie was a member of the Browning Chapter #262 Order of the Eastern Star, The Thrifty Fingers Club and the Denver Christian Church.
Marie is survived by her husband, Russell Lawson of Plymouth; three children, Roger (Linda) Lawson of Springfield, Illinois, James (Gina) Lawson of Humble, Texas and Joyce Lawson of Crown Point, Indiana; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dr. Ernest Melvin; and a sister, Lois Ramey.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, October 18, 2018, at the Denver Christian Church in Denver, Illinois with burial to follow in Harmony Township Cemetery near Bentley. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening following the visitation at the funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Denver Christian Church. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
