Marshall E. “Peco” Stump, 84, passed away at 12:45 P.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Montrose Care Center in Montrose, Iowa.
Marshall was born on March 22, 1934, in Elvaston, Illinois, the son of Lowell R. and Aleta (Marshall) Stump. In July of 1953, he was united in marriage to Fern E. Loring. They were later divorced.
A life-long resident of Hancock County, Marshall worked as a truck driver for W. L. Miller for over 50 years and also farmed for many years. He was a member of the Blackhawk Masonic Lodge, the Quincy Consistory and the Christian Church in Hamilton. In his free time, Marshall enjoyed watching Nascar and taking tractors to Threshers. He loved animals, but he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything in the world.
Marshall is survived by his daughters Kathy (Gabe) Nagy of Warsaw and Karla (Shawn) Leonhard of Hamilton; four grandchildren: Gabriel (Annette) Nagy of Warsaw; Alex Nagy of Warsaw; Mathew (Julie) Settles of Sacramento, California; and Michael (Kim) Settles of Keokuk; eight great-grandchildren: Sawyer Nagy, Saylor Nagy, Savana Nagy, Rhett Nagy, Drake Huffman, Brayden Settles, Payton Settles and Dakota Settles: his brother Robert K. (Pam) Stump of Port Orchard, Washington; and two sisters: Doris L. (Ray) Taylor of Hamilton and Joanne (Ted) Bayler of Springfield, Virginia. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marshall is preceded in death by his parents and his son Kevin.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon to 2 pm directly before the service.
