Mary I. Patrick, 88, of West Point, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mary was born February 14, 1933, the daughter of Henrich “Henry” and Mary Alice (Smith) Wachtendorf on the family farm near Carthage. On September 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to Wallace Junior Patrick at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. Mary served as a children’s Sunday school teacher for many years and also actively supported the Gideon’s Society. She was a great cook and loved being outside. She also loved farming and was very actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives.
Mary is survived by her children, Rebecca (David) Wright of Carthage, Rachel (Rick) Clark of Fairfield, Iowa, Marla (Mike) Gronewold of Carthage and Stephen (Kelly) Patrick of Carthage; grandchildren, Adam (Schylar) Wright, Jeremy (Olivia) Clark, Marcus (Madeline) Clark, Randi (Zach) Summers, M. Danielle (Jordan) White, Lauren Gronewold, Michaela (Kennedy) Gooding, Nathan Patrick and Mackenzie (Jensen) Corzatt; great grandchildren Caroline, Jameson, Gabriel, Aubrey and Riley Clark, Sophia White, Harrison, Addison and Ellison Summers, Nash Neff and Adley Gooding; sisters, Evelyn Briley and Erma Swank of Carthage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior Patrick; and a brother Richard Lee Wachtendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 29, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Carthage or H.U.G.S. Printy Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
