Obituary
Nellie Anna Black McAllister, 101, passed away at 7:30 AM, Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Montrose Health Center.
Nellie was born February 12, 1922, in Jefferson County, Iowa, the daughter of Harry R. and Laura Wynona (Hummell) Black. On October 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Harry S. McAllister in Fairfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1989. Nellie enjoyed gardening and canning, especially tomato juice. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, music and going to concerts with her family.
Nellie is survived by her children, Robert McAllister of Galesburg, Elizabeth (George) Long of Ft. Madison, Thomas (Diane) McAllister of Gulfport, Illinois, and Teresa McAllister of Elvaston; grandsons, Jay Bowen and Joshua McAllister; granddaughters, Angela McAllister-Blevins, Kathleen Bowen, Shawn Murphy, Belinda Shallcross and Jessica McWhortor; four great grandsons; and two great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; and siblings, Violet Weaver, Ruth Keller, Roy Black, Carl Black, Harry J. Black and Robert Black.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. A memorial fund has been established. Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
