Orville R. Hale, 85, of Nauvoo, passed away at 2:45 AM Monday morning, October 30, 2023, at his home.
Orville was born April 12, 1938, the son of Ray and Ruby Maxine (Copeland) Hale in Carthage, Illinois. He graduated from Carthage High School. On January 15, 1961, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Todd in Hamilton. Orville had served as the Gardening Supervisor of Nauvoo Restoration, Incorporated for many years. Orville was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo where he had served as scoutmaster for many years. He enjoyed working at the Hancock County Mental Health Center and driving the bus for events. Orville had a great love of all types of gardening, but especially vegetable gardening and then canning all he grew.
Orville is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Nauvoo; his daughter, Tammy (Robert) Curtis of Nauvoo; a son, Jonathan R. (Diane) Hale of Renton, WA; grandchildren, Nathan (Crystal) Hale, Ben Hale, Kaleigh Hale, Jordan Curtis, Janelle (Richie) Byrd, Joseph Curtis, Juliana Curtis, James (Sara) Curtis, John Curtis, Jacob Hale and Hannah Hale; a granddaughter-in-law, Jessica; seven great grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Nathan, Richard and Daniel; a grandson, Jeffery Hale; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Hale; and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Trone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday morning, November 6, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo with burial to follow in the Nauvoo City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until time of services at 11:00 at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Hospital or H.U.G.S. Printy Funeral Home is in charge of
