Richard Leroy Ancelet

Richard Ancelet, 75, formerly of Carthage, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 28, in Bettendorf, IA.

Richard Leroy Ancelet was born on August 13, 1947, in Keokuk, IA, the son of Clarence and Alvena Ancelet. He was a 1965 graduate of Carthage High School and a 1969 graduate of Luther College. He spent his business career working as an accountant and senior vice-president of Waste Management.

Richard married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Karen, and has been by her side for nearly 57 years. Together they spent most of their lives in Waukesha, WI, and raised two sons, Todd and Brad; both whom also graduated from his same alma mater, Luther College. After Richard’s retirement they built a home in Bettendorf, IA. Richard’s biggest hobby was taking care of his immaculate yard where he spent countless hours each day outside. You could always find him outdoors in his sun hat walking in his yard caring for his plants and flowers and grass. Richard also had a passion for watching soccer whether it was watching his son, grandsons, or traveling to World Cup games. Richard especially loved being a grandpa to Justin, Gavin, Jack and Maddie. He enjoyed watching his grandkids’ favorite activities and especially sitting on the couch with all of them watching Scooby Doo. Richard was a private and proud man devoted to his wife Karen and will forever be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Ancelet; his son, Todd Ancelet and wife Pam and grandchildren Justin and Gavin; his son, Brad Ancelet and wife Christa and grandchildren Jack and Maddie.

A graveside service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery on June 6, at 2:30pm. A visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, IL. Memorials can be made out to the Genesis Health Foundation for the Clarissa Cook Hospice House. Printy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
