Richard A. Naylor, 75, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Carthage passed away at 5:51 P.M. January 8, 2019, in San Antonio.
Richard was born November 27, 1943, the son of Samuel and Jean (Lamering) Naylor in Carthage, Illinois. He graduated from Carthage High School and later from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps for seven years serving three tours in Vietnam and receiving two Purple Hearts. He had also served over twenty years as a Civil Servant in Unites States Air Force. He was specifically trained in recovery and identification. He helped the military repatriate remains from overseas and also served at Dover Air Force Base in response to 9/11. Richard enjoyed traveling with his wife, Trixel, experiencing many adventures such as jumping out of an airplane during his retirement. He loved fishing throughout Central America.
Richard is survived by his wife, Trixel Naylor, of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Spring Naylor of Philadelphia, PA, Trixi Torres of San Antonio, TX, Annabelle Torres of Panama and son Edward Naylor of Pennsylvania; and grandchildren Zack Naylor, Tristan Naylor and Altair Gonzalez; siblings, Samuel Naylor VI, Joseph Naylor, Linda Jean Gallaher, Sally Speer, Jay Naylor and Nancy Crose.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Naylor.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage with military rites rendered by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Hancock County Honor Guard. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of local arrangements.
