January 9, 1942 ~ February 5, 2024 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Rosalee R. “Ro Ro” Pilkington, 82, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away at her home on Monday, February 5, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Rosie was born January 9, 1942, in Hamilton, Illinois. She attended Hamilton High School, graduating in 1960. After high school, Rosie became a CNA and worked at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Quincy, Memorial Hospital, The Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage, and In Home Health Care. Rosie dedicated her life to caring for people, including her father George and brother Wayne in their home through their final days. Rosie was an avid Betty Boop collector, and she loved the color, Pink. Rosie had a special love for animals, especially her three rescue dogs, Sweet Little Lady, Good Boy Bandit, and Cute Little Jack. She was often seen around Carthage walking her dog. Rosie will be remembered for her loving spirit, her joy for life, her love for good food, her intense love for her family, generous spirit, and her smile while walking her little dogs around town. Everyone that loved Rosie knew her rule… She Loved Them MORE!
Rosalee is survived by her sisters; Doris Todd of Carthage and Charlotte Seyb of Donnelson; her brother Ray Pilkington of Peoria; many nieces and nephews, and her good friend Molly Rees who Rosie thought of as her sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George D. Pilkington and Beaulah B. Pilkington, a brother Wayne H. Pilkington, two brother in laws, Michael Todd, and Garry Seyb; and her dogs, Little Lady, Bandit, and Jack, who went with her.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with Mark Hanson officiating. Burial will follow the ceremony at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4pm – 7pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to ASPCA. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage in charge of arrangements.
