Stanley Althide

Stanley Althide, 80, of Basco, passed away at River Hills Care Center in Keokuk at 4:45 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

Stanley was born June 27, 1940, the son of Lester Henry and Pauline Edith (Koehler) Althide in Keokuk, Iowa.  Stanley was a life-long farmer and avid cattle buyer having the CB handle “Sale Bum”.  He worked at various farms until 1966 when he joined his brothers in the family farm.  He loved his cattle and took care of the cattle in the farming operation until his retirement in 2002.  Stanley was an auxiliary member of the V.F.W. and a life-long member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter.

Stanley is survived by his siblings, Darrell (Deb) Althide, Marilee (Edward) Jacquot and Donna (Ron) Hurt, all of Basco; a sister-in-law, Pat Althide of Hamilton; six nieces, Melissa (Andrew) Finch, Amy (Mark) Bieger, Julie Althide, Sara (Kip) Armstrong, Katina (Darden) Rhodes and Heidi (Jeff) Harness; six nephews, Bradley (Angela) Althide, Brandon (Kimberly) Althide, Jason (Marla) Jacquot, Ryan (Adrienne) Jacquot, David (Nicole) Hurt and Todd (Kelly) Hurt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rodney.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery near Sutter.  Memorials may be directed to the Bethlehem United Church of Christ or River Hills Village.  Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
