Steven Kent Brownlee

Steven “Steve” Kent Brownlee, 69, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in Lee County, Iowa.

Steve was born on June 25, 1952, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Traves and Cecile (Hardy) Brownlee. On June 18, 1972, he was united in marriage to Marie Louise Carlson in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.

Steve worked for Henniges Automotive for over twenty years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of USW Local #444, and was a man of many talents and hobbies, including woodworking, golfing, disc golfing, and archery. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Steve served briefly in the United States Army.

Steve is survived by his wife Marie Brownlee of Warsaw; four children: Samuel (Karla) Brownlee of Greenville, North Carolina, Solomon (Gina Tigges) Brownlee of Altoona, Iowa, Melissa (George) Betancourt of Moores Hill, Indiana, and Shawn (Fiancée Jaime Snider) Brownlee of St. Ann, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Devin Zamora, Debbie Gonzalez, Tiffany Ramirez, George Betancourt, Jr., Savannah Betancourt, Andrew Snider and Gavin Snider; three siblings: Janet Walters of Hamilton, Illinois, Christine (John) Stewart of Sutter, Illinois, and Michael Brownlee of Everton, Missouri; his aunt Anna Hardy of Hamilton, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Traves and his infant brother Terry.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 8 pm, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 pm.
