Thomas Michael Bishop, 74, of Carthage, passed away at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Tom was born September 7, 1947, in Keokuk, Iowa. He was the son of Harold and Margorie Bishop, who preceded him in death. Tom was united in marriage to Rosalie Anna Bergmann at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Macomb, Illinois on November 13, 1970.
Tom graduated from Carthage High School in 1965. At the age of 17, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy. (1965-1968) He was a sergeant in the color guard and a member of the military police aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge in the Vietnam War. Tom was an operator engineer at Central Stone in rural Carthage from 1969, retiring in 2012. Tom was an avid knife maker and enjoyed the art of scrimshaw. He also enjoyed making powder horns and wood carvings.
Tom is survived by his wife, Rosalie, a half-brother, Bill Reuck of Ehlert, Colorado and his daughter, Laurie lee; sisters-in-law, Annaleen Plowman and her children Collin and Daniel Druck; and Linda (Thomas) Hill-Davidson, and a brother-in-law Reinhard (Cathy) Bergmann, and their children, Ryan (Amy) Bergmann and Eric (Lyndsey) Bergmann and many friends and extended family.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with military rites rendered by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Hancock County Honor Guard. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
