Thomas “Tom” Gene Harrison, 76, of Warsaw, passed away at 12:03 PM Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Tom was born May 31, 1947, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Wilber Leroy and Alice Lydia (Siverly) Harrison. He attended Warsaw High School graduating in 1965. On April 8, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mary Roost. She survives. Tom was enormously skilled in many areas of carpentry and construction. He had been a cabinetmaker; he built houses and had a plumbing business. He was also an excellent mechanic and gardener. He most recently had been involved in beekeeping. Music was one of his other many talents. He gained his love of music from his family and was a steel guitar player. He was a drag racer in his younger years and an avid fisherman for a number of years. He could often be found near the dam catfishing with his good friend, Doug Kimberly. Tom will be missed by friends and family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary, of Warsaw; children, Melissa (Patrick) Jung of Plainfield, Illinois, and Gena Harrison of Warsaw; grandson, Scott Thomas Jung of Champaign, Illinois; godson, Jared Weirather; brother, Perry (Janet) Harrison of Warsaw; sisters-in-law, Marty Harrison of Phoenix and Marlys Heisler of Warsaw; a brother-in-law, Jerry McNair of Rochester, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harley Dean Harrison, Steven Leroy Harrison; sister, Nancy Jo McNair; and close friend, Doug Kimberly.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at Noon at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
