Thomas Kraushaar Obituary

Thomas Arthur “Tom” Kraushaar, 73, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home.

Tom was born on January 24, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harold Dale and Joan (Denholm) Kraushaar. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1967, and graduated from Sterling College in 1972. On July 14, 1972, he was united in marriage to Marjorie DeVries in Belvidere, South Dakota. She survives.

Tom was employed as a teacher at Central Christian High School in Hutchinson, Kansas from 1972 until 1975, and went to work for FS in sales from 1976 until 1986, when he went to work for Crop Production, retiring as a sales agronomist in 2015. Tom was an active member of the Warsaw community, and served as the Wilcox Township Supervisor, a Warsaw Fire Department Trustee, and a Camp Callahan volunteer. He was also a member of the Illinois Beef Association and the Farm Bureau. Tom’s faith was the center of his life, and he was a member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church and the Elvaston Community Church. He was a lay minister, preaching for St. Mary’s Baptist Church, Webster Church, Fountain Green, Warsaw and Hamilton Presbyterian Churches and others. Tom also loved hunting and the great outdoors.

Tom is survived by his wife Marjorie Kraushaar of Warsaw; two daughters: Susan Aebel of Kinderhook, Illinois, and Katie Kraushaar of Quincy, Illinois; his son David (Tasha) Kraushaar of Hull, Illinois; two sisters: Jane Zody of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mary (Brad) Doyle of Lima, Illinois; his brother Howard (Liz) Kraushaar of Hutchinson, Kansas; three granddaughters: Aemilia and Sabrina Aebel of Kinderhook, Illinois, and Phoebe Kraushaar of Hull, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, Illinois. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 8 am to noon, with family meeting friends from 9 to noon directly before the service.

Memorials may be directed to Camp Callahan or a charity of the donor’s choice.
