Virginia Rottman Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Darlene King Rottman, 84, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on March 15, 2021.

Ginny was born on Thanksgiving Day November 26, 1936 in Keokuk, Iowa, the elder daughter of William Nelson King and Irma Louisa Schumacher King. She was baptized as a baby and continued her faith in God throughout her life.  She was raised on a farm in Wythe Township, six miles south of Hamilton.  She attended country grade schools (Excelsior and Harmony) and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1954.

On October 13, 1957 she married Donald W. Rottman in Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church.  They later divorced.

Ginny is survived by two children, Timothy J. Rottman and Kristine M. (Ronnie) Reed, both of Hamilton; grandchildren, Megan M. Meyer of Texas, Staff Sergeant Hunter L. (Michaela) Reed of Hinesville, GA, Bradie L. (Matt Bailey) Reed of Clinton, Iowa; great grandchildren, “Memaw” as they called her, Kayleigh, Bleyn, Ryker, JKiya, Hazel and Maddyx; a sister, Vickie (John) Kjelland of Lexington, IL; nephews, Thane, Gregory and Ritchie King, Erik and Andrew Kjelland; nieces, Krista King and Robalee (Nathan) Wanderman; great nephew, Cohen Kjelland; special friends, Claudia Nelson of Laguna Woods, CA and Jim Henry of Mountain Home, AR and numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald King; niece Tamara King; and Donald Rottman.

 

She was employed as an administrative assistant most of her life.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed every moment spent with them.  She enjoyed genealogy, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch, golf and being outdoors enjoying God’s creation.

 

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday morning, March 20, 2021, at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter with Reverend Mark Binder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton with family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.  Memorials may be directed to the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in her memory.  Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
