Waneta Pearl “Peg” Reed, 97, of London Mills, Illinois, passed away at Courtyard Estates in Knoxville on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:25 A.M.
Peg was born August 14, 1921, the daughter of Floyd Harrison and Cloe Jane (White) Rice in Bird’s Corner, Orion Township. She attended London Mills High School graduating in 1939. While in high school Peg worked at the Blue Moon Café, cleaned the Methodist Church and was a baby sitter. On April 15, 1939, she was united in marriage to Wallace Wayne Reed in Burlington, Iowa. She had worked at Gale Products in Galesburg for 30 years making Johnson and Evinrude outboard motors.
Peg is survived by three sons, Richard A. (Tena) Reed of Carthage, Roger W. Reed of London Mills and Lee H. (Kathey) Reed of Chatham, Illinois; five grandchildren, Rachel (Michael) Healey, Matt (Angie) Reed, Lara (Tony) Vespa, Anne-Marie (Jim) Koehl, Jon Reed and Jody Reed; a granddaughter-in-law, Amy Reed; seventeen great grandchildren, Danielle “Dani”, Michael, Lucas “Luke” and Nolan Healey; Rylee, Reagan and Ryan Reed, Nathaniel “Nate”, Calista “Callie” and Isaac Reed, Brooklyn and Jocelyn Reed, Samuel and Lily Koehl, Katherine “Kati” and Maxwell “Max” Vespa and Ian Reed and Tori, Emma and Sam; one great great grandson, Levi Reed.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Chris Reed; three brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Jack Rice; and two sisters, Maxine Bowden and Eileen Slater.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at East Midway Cemetery near London Mills, Illinois. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
