William “Bill” James Huff, 90, passed away early on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.
Bill was born on October 25, 1932, in Oxford, Nebraska. He was the son of Harold “Pete” Huff and Etta “Fern” (Ireland) Huff. After graduating high school, Bill enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Korean War. He completed class A engineman school which lead him to being a heavy equipment mechanic for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 for many years. On December 21, 1979, Bill was united in marriage to June Morton at the Presbyterian Church in Carthage. He was a member of the VFW and served in the Honor Guard for many years.
Bill is survived by his wife, June Huff of Quincy, IL; his daughter, Kayleen (Corky) Marble of Beaver City, NE; his grandchildren, John Marble, Fred Marble, Naomi Rule, and Kerrie Williams; his stepchildren, Mike (Tammy) Lawson of Galesburg, IL, Lex (Carrol) Lawson of Elvaston, IL, as well as many great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Virginia White.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA, on Friday, October 13, 2023, with military honors. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
