Wilma Ruth Spees, 102, passed away at her home Sunday morning, March 14, 2021 at 6:40 AM.
Wilma was born September 29, 1918, the daughter of James and Leona (Loy) Loop in Schuyler County, Illinois. She graduated from Carthage High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage.
Wilma worked most of her life, finally retiring at 90. She enjoyed doing handy work and made family members quilts, afghans, dollies as well as select items. She enjoyed having family get in her gift box and pick out things for friends.
Wilma is survived by two daughters, Penny Walker of Carthage and Cynthia Spees of Hamilton; two granddaughters, Holly (Tim) Wilde Tillman and Heidi (Joe) Carlisle, both of Carthage; six great grandchildren, Bryce Priddy, Hunter, Forest and Sage Wilde, and Ethan and Ella Carlisle; two great great grandchildren, Aiden and Alexis Priddy; nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Luella Spees
She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Spees; a granddaughter, April Bon Devenbaugh; and two sisters, Idell Alton and Pauline Yetter.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon, March 19, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. with family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date in Rosemont Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Carthage or H.U.G.S. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
