Gary Lee “Bo” Dighton, 68, of Carthage, passed away in his home Friday morning, March 15, 2019, in Carthage.
Gary was born June 15, 1950, in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Roy and Marcella Rose (Haislip) Dighton. He attended Carthage High School graduating in 1968. On September 19, 1969, he was united in marriage to Karen Hoelscher. They were later divorced. Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1969 and received his Honorable Discharge in 1972 as a Sargent. Gary helped work the family farm and also the septic tank business. He enjoyed visiting with people, especially at Hardee’s and had a great sense of humor. He also loved his tractor pulls.
Gary is survived by his children, Robert (Tammy) Dighton of West Point, Illinois and Jill Murphy of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Kody and Leann Belshaw and Kayden Dighton; two great grandchildren, Kaesen and Cole Belshaw; one brother, Larry (Connie) Dighton of Carthage and a sister, Lisa Dighton of Lakewood, Colorado; his beloved dog, Fru; nieces, Jari Dighton and Misty (Troy) Forquer; nephews, Jeffrey and Brandon Dighton; and two aunts, Marcia Duffy and Jeanette Pfeifferling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Terry.
Family will meet friends from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, March 19, 2019, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Military rites will be held following the visitation at the funeral home at 7:00. Private family burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or family choice. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
