Donald "Pete" Webster Obituary

Donald Charles “Pete” Webster, 88, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

Pete was born on February 19, 1933, in Belden, Nebraska, the son of Ed and Mary Webster. On April 29, 1979, he was united in marriage to Katherine “Kathy” Stephenson in Quincy, Illinois. She survives. Pete had many jobs during his lifetime, including mowing yards, working as a mechanic and at working at a tire shop. Most recently, he was employed for JB Hunt as an over-the-road truck driver. Pete enjoyed spending time bowling and fishing or tinkering on small engines. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching MSNBC. Pete proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Pete is survived by his wife Kathy Webster of Carthage, Illinois; four children: Donna Hathaway and Becky Webster of Canton, Missouri, Beth Cress of Quincy, Illinois, Kris McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri; granddaughters Aimee Danforth of New London, Missouri, Kara (David) Kowalski of St. Joseph, Missouri, Amanda Hathaway of Hannibal, Missouri, Serena McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri, and Alana McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri; grandsons Mathew (Kathleen) Herren of Fort Riley, Kansas, Reginald (Denyse) Hathaway of Columbia, Missouri, Nicholas McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri, Joey McCarty of Hurdland, Missouri, and Zachery Cress of Quincy, Illinois; three great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; his sister Edith Fulton of La Belle, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Pete’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Military Honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Honor Guard and the United States Army. Family and friends will leave Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, Illinois, at 1:15 pm on Wednesday for a procession to the cemetery.
