Helen Lorene Vass

Helen Lorene Vass, 98, of Burnside, passed away at 8:55 AM, Monday, June 14, 2021, at the Klein Center in Burlington, Iowa.

Helen was born June 14, 1923, in Blandinsville, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Omer and Edna Blanche (Foster) Logan.  She graduated from Carthage High School.  On December 28, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ralph Lee Vass in Carthage, Illinois.  Helen was a homemaker and farmed alongside her husband.  She loved quilting and was a longtime member of the Burnside Christian Church.

Helen is survived by two children, John (Jean) Vass of Burlington and Marilyn (Bob) Mocella of Thornton, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Rick) Kerns, Jeffrey Vass, Anthony (Anne) Mocella and Elizabeth (Edward) Hilquist; and great grandchildren, Karolyn and Benjamin Hilquist and Carter and Austin Kerns.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers, Howard, Richard and Ralph Logan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00.  Memorials may be directed to Burnside Christian Church.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
