Jewel D. "Dean" Kelly

Jewel D. “Dean” Kelly, 77, passed away Monday evening, January 11, 2021, at 10:37 P.M. at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.

Dean was born March 9, 1943, in Searcy County, Arkansas, the daughter of Dewey and R. E. (Lee) Massey.  On October 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to James Kelly in Keokuk, Iowa.  She had worked at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage for 29 years retiring in 1999.  Dean enjoyed yard sales and collecting butterflies and angels.  She loved the color green.

Dean is survived by her husband, Jim, of Carthage; three children, Rick (Deana) Kelly, Tony Kelly and Allen Kelly, all of Carthage; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Massey of Warsaw; and a sister, Carolyn (Russell) Muegge of Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Jack, Maxine, Lucille, Junior and Raymond.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 15, 2021, at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  Memorials may be directed the Diabetes Society.  Printy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
